Get to know Imogen
I started riding before I could walk and I am lucky enough to always be surrounded by horses. My mum was determined to have a "horsey" daughter, and if you know my mum, you'll know that when she's determined, there's no changing her mind! In fact, she was probably even more determined than I am. I must say, I do sometimes wonder if she regrets that decision now.
My journey began with a wonderful pony called Mac Attack. He'd been there, done that and got the T-shirt. He certainly didn't owe anyone anything. He had the kindest nature, taught me countless lessons and gave me the best possible start in the saddle. Looking back, I couldn't have asked for a better first pony.
About me
It wasn't long before I graduated from ponies to horses as my legs seemed to grow overnight and by the age of 11 I was ready for something a little bigger!
As a junior rider, I competed with BYRDS (British Dressage Youth), collecting a few badges and invaluable experience along the way. Those years laid the foundations for my love of dressage and gave me the ambition to keep learning.
At 18, I took the next step in my career and joined Anna Ross. It was an incredible experience; my mind was blown by the quality of the horses, the standard of training and just how much there was to learn.
Since then, I've been fortunate to train with and learn from a number of international Grand Prix riders and coaches. Those experiences have shaped my philosophy, combining proven training principles with a horse centred and logical approach that prioritises confidence, welfare and long term development. My goal is always to help horses and riders progress together to create happy partnerships that can reach their full potential.
My philosophy
Dressage, to me, is about far more than scores and rosettes. Of course, when I ride down the centre line, I always strive for an 80+% test but those results come from confident, willing horses who enjoy their work and understand what is asked of them.
Every horse is an individual, which is why I never believe in a one size fits all approach. By combining classical dressage principles with modern horse centred training, I focus on strength, understanding and allowing each horse to progress at a pace that suits them.
Whether I produce young horses, prepare a horse for competition or coach a rider towards their goals, my priority remains the same: to create lasting partnerships built on trust, harmony and correct training.
I truly believe the best results do not come from rushing. They come from listening and understanding, which allows every horse to reach their full potential.
